Kay Kay Menon's Insightful Acting Method
Mumbai: Renowned actor Kay Kay Menon, who is set to return in the next season of Special Ops, shared insights into his seemingly 'boring' yet effective method of character preparation, which he believes yields impressive results.
In a recent interview, Menon elaborated on his approach, stating, "The process might seem dull, but it revolves around immersing myself in the script. It’s not about constant brainstorming; rather, I trust that spending time with the script will eventually reveal something unique. It’s like a magic lamp that suddenly brings forth ideas. I don’t force it; I let it come to me, similar to how a skilled batsman waits for the ball to reach the bat during a test match."
He added, "I read the script whenever I can. Even if time is tight, I’ve noticed that the more I engage with it, the more it rewards me in return."
When questioned about the timeframe for this process, he replied, "There’s no set gestation period; it varies. But when it happens, it’s like a Eureka moment. Everyone has their own methods, and this is mine."
Previously, Menon mentioned he had made a slight modification to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
When asked what continues to inspire him after all these years, he responded, "Storytelling. I feel a deep connection to narratives and enjoy embodying different characters. That’s what drives me forward."
He humorously noted, "Regarding Maslow's Hierarchy, the basic needs at the pyramid's base—food and shelter—are essential, but I’ve added Wi-Fi at the bottom. Nowadays, I think Wi-Fi is more crucial than food or shelter!"
Menon expressed that his passion for storytelling has evolved; he no longer focuses on personal gain but embraces the holistic experience of the narrative.
